Ayuda en Acción held at the Centro Joaquín Roncal in Zaragoza its 2nd Conference of cooperation under the slogan “ODS with an accent on the S” and in the framework of their campaign “Aragon helps nobody live in poverty. #SomosAyuda”.
The objective of this Conference was to listen to the reflections and proposals of different actors of the State and Aragonese cooperation to face the challenges of the Sustainable Development Goals (ODS).
Its analysis focused especially on those ODS more related to climate change, the alliances between different actors and the need to promote humanitarian aid.
The opening of the event was by Jaime Montalvo, president of Ayuda en Acción and Ángel Dolado, the Justice of Aragon.
Three thematic blocks were then developed, focusing on the role of the public administration and companies facing the ODS challenges as well as in the action developed by third sector entities to comply with the objectives assumed by the international community until the year 2030.
Different personalities related to politics and cooperation participated in these days, emphasizing María Cruz Obís, from the General Directorate of Citizen Participation, transparency, cooperation and volunteering of the Government of Aragon or Julio Martínez, from The Office of Cooperation to the development of the city of Zaragoza. As representatives of the business world, Carlos Sallé, director of energy development at IBERDROLA and Clara Arpa, CEO of the ARPA company and member of the Council of the UN Global Compact, attended.
The scope of the third sector was represented, among others, by María José Caballero, deputy director of programs of Greenpeace and Cristina Monge, director of conversations of ECODES.
On the side of Ayuda en Acción was also attended by Fernando Mudarra, general Director, Rocío Palá (delegate of Ayuda en Acción in Aragon and patron of the Foundation) and Reina Patricia Méndez, regional responsible for sustainability and change Climate in Ayuda en Acción Honduras, who shared a vision of the challenges that ODS have on the ground.
The closing ceremony was held by Sergio Salinas, director of the Secretariat for Cooperation of the Vice President for internationalization and cooperation of the University of Zaragoza.
